About Island Doula
Hi, I’m Monique, the heart behind Island Doula Ltd, where every mother is seen, supported, and celebrated. I always get asked, “Why did I become a Doula?” Simply put, I have always had an interest in women’s health, pregnancy, postpartum and everything in between. I have always had a deep love for babies. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) in 2018 and was employed as a Registered Nurse (RN) at a local hospital before pursuing my Doula certifications and transitioning into birth work fully in 2023.
I was inspired to become a Doula because of one of my best friends, Kristin. Kristin knew the love I had for babies, pregnancy and women’s health and she suggested that I look into becoming a Doula. I was working as a RN at the time and honestly had not heard of a Doula before. After a quick google search of doulas, I instantly fell in love and decided to trade in my nursing scrubs for doula scrubs. I am forever grateful that she planted the seed of becoming a Doula in my mind because now I am able to truly live in my purpose. It felt perfect leaning into birth work because unbeknownst to me, it was my true purpose all along.
Becoming a mother is one of life’s most powerful transformations, and it’s my mission to ensure you never have to walk that journey alone. Island Doula was created to fill the support gap that is currently present for moms in the Cayman Islands from pregnancy through to the postpartum period. As a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, I provide birth preparation, labor and birth support, postpartum preparation and in home postpartum care designed to nurture you physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Whether you’re preparing for a natural birth, a planned C-section, or simply want a calm and confident postpartum experience, I’m here to hold space for you with education, compassion, and care that feels like family. At Island Doula Ltd, we believe that when mothers are supported, families thrive. Let’s create a birth and postpartum experience that feels peaceful, empowering, and aligned with your heart.
